Besides being compassionate toward the people and what they say, a good leader must also be compassionate about his visions and beliefs. It is important to have this, in order to achieve one's goals and be effective. Having a passion what you do is a trait of all good and effective leaders. Your vision must have the conviction and compassion that will motivate your followers to understand and believe in what you say and do. People will not get motivated by themselves unless you as a leader can project passion for it. My vision has always been.motivating others to realizing the vision and then doing the vision is the goal that will need to be reached.<br />

These members will also want to track their progress, their team’s progress and their organizations’ progress. Team members with high motivation remain optimistic even when the odds are against them. In such cases, the leader must use achievement motivation to overcome the frustration and depression that comes after a set back or failure. Some team members would have blamed the failure on outside circumstances beyond their control. The leader needs to use the failure as a learning experience and emphasize other progress made by describing the experience as this was a learning experience and now we have learned so much from it. Team members who love their jobs for the work itself often feel committed to the organization and make the work possible. Committed people are likely to stay with the organization even when they are pursued by other distractions. It is not difficult to understand how a motivated team translates to success. They will set the performance bar high for themselves and for the organization.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: white;">Making the team member’s drive to surpass goals can be contagious. Leaders that can motivate people can often build an effective team around these traits. And of course, optimism and organizational commitment are fundamental to leadership. Consider the challenges of leading and motivating an effective team. A team leader must be able to sense and understand the viewpoints of everyone on the team and when to give effective feedback. They need to know when to push for better performance and when to hold back.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: white;">To motivate, a leader must be a good persuader so that the team will follow them. If you do not have any followers, your team will not be successful. A good persuader knows when to make an emotional plea or when an appeal to reason will work better. The motivation process is not easy. It takes time, and most of all commitment. But the benefits that come from having a motivated team, both for the individual and for the organization, make it well worth the effort. To motivate an individual employee by establishing goals, the leader must consider the employee’s needs. Goals that address company expectations may clearly identify planned actions and outcomes, but do not motivate. However, goals that also address individual performance may motivate an employee. When work-related goals link individual performance with company expectations, the employee sees the leader recognizes their performance and may be motivated by that contribution.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

Compassion is a leadership trait that is very hard to achieve.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am a true believer that to receive you first must give of yourself.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> Which reminds me of an experience that I had a few years back. </span>A few years ago I was volunteering at a Special Olympics and I was in charge of the running races in the Special Olympics. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We were getting ready for the fifty yard dash and my job was to get the runners to the starting line and explain that I will say runners to your mark, Get set and I will shoot the starter gun.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When I shoot the starter gun you are to run as fast as you can until you cross the finish line.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All of the runners nodded and said yes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I could see by the looks in everyone’s eyes that they were very excited about being in the race.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>At the finish line were the judges that would decide who the winners of the race would be.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As I watched the runners get into their starting positions I wished everyone good luck.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>When everyone was in place I told everyone the words that everyone was waiting to hear.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Runners on your mark get set and then I started the race when I pulled the trigger on the starter gun.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All of the runners were out of the starting blocks fast except one of the runners who had started to trip and fell to the ground.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then I saw something that I’ve never seen happen before, all of the runners stopped and came back to help up the fallen runner and then all of the runners locked arms together and crossed the finish together.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was about finishing the race first but having the compassion to help a fallen comrade finish the race.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Mason Cooley once said “Compassion brings us to a stop, and for a moment we rise about ourselves.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Great leaders understand the importance of compassion and do stop to take a look at what is going on beyond themselves.</span><br />
